Mongrel Koi originated in the late spring of 2003. They started as a trio known as Planet Belly. In the early summer, ryan joined and they have been playing as a foursome ever since. Through creative differences the name was changed to common ground, and has since moved on to be called Mongrel Koi. The Koi play a mix of originals and covers at bars and parties in the Marquette area.
